Oh no, you can’t come on here and like your own car. That would be annoying.

2003-2006, pre-facelift. I’m not walking back outside, I already took my pants off.

Korean Luxury, the perfect cross between Japanese and American luxury. I wanted a Cadenza but part of me wants to go K900 or 2011 Jaguar XJ. We’ll see what happens in the future of heavy depreciation!

I like the Amanti; always have. Haven’t had the chance to drive one yet, nor ride in one. I drove a Kia minivan once and I was impressed by the amount of power the V6 had. I think the Korean cars on the North American market have much to recommend them.

Yes, they actually install glass in those, enough that you can see out.

I actually kinda liked the Amanti. There’s one thing I have never under understood, though. Why did Kia not put any badging up front?

I’m all for Kia. Everyone knows I’m all about them. Hyundai versions are always a little off though since they tend to get the whatever updates or new features first, but Kia tends to get the same tech but introduce it months or years later. That gives their cars the advantage of hearing reviewer and consumer complaints about a system or feature before they actually release it. Kia is basically Hyundai 2.0.

I will say, on stock wheels and tires, the Amanti is one of the worst handling cars in the world. Smooth as buttered silk on new linoleum though!

Don't these have big, obnoxious LED signals in the front bumper?

Because they couldn’t use the Opirus branding and they already had to de-content the car A LOT in order to get it below $30,000 (which was still too much for a Kia to Americans). No sense spending money on badges when most people don’t want to see the Kia emblem on the car Look at the Genesis and Equus. One comment that popped up a lot about the K900 was how much Kia badged it as a “Kia.” It threw off reviewers quite a bit.

*Excuse the pictures, Korean car shows are still pretty awful in terms of the treatment of product specialists but everyone is mature enough to get the point. The “real” Korean cars would have been almost $45,000 in the US if they were able to have the same equipment and materials.

That and the indicator stalk is the most satisfying stalk to operate in any vehicle! I seriously look forward to using my indicators because the stalk engages perfectly and the exterior lights are badass!

Huh. Did not know about the Opirus. I assume that was the kdm version?

Yeah I knew Hyundai did the same with those two, but eventually badging was added to both of those. Your comment about the K900 doesn’t surprise me, either. I think it’s a very nice car, but a lot of people couldn’t swallow the fact that it was a Kia for close to Merc and BMW money. I will say that the US Kia of today is a lot better than the Kia of the early days. People thought the same of Japanese cars in the US in the early days, yet we see how that turned out. I think time will only mean good things for both Kia and Hyundai.

It’s honestly sad that it would cost that much here if it was done up correctly. I think the market as a whole in the US has gotten out of hand. We live in the days of paying over $50k for a damned pickup. To me, that is just ridiculous. It shouldn’t have to be that way.
